Haikyuu!! Ch. 373 SPOILERS
Slight analysis here, but mostly squealing
Let’s start out with the beginning—Oikawa learning how to beach play!! I thought this was an excellent move on Furudate’s side, showing both Hinata and us the readers that one of the arguably best players in the whole manga struggles just as much in a new element. It’s also showing Oikawa that he has to relearn volleyball structure in a whole different light—and for someone who’s been playing most of his life, that’s got to be tough on him. Aside from getting a little miffed, I think he takes it in stride
Hinata’s smol lofi dead-eyed face always cracks me up. One more for my collection!!
This panel made me feel THINGS. I love the idea with Hinata teaching Oikawa volleyball, giving him tips and offering constructive criticism when needed. And not only that, but Oikawa listens to him!!! I can’t imagine how big of a deal this is for our little mandarin
Putting aside the fact that Pedro and Hinata both read One-Piece (adorable) I loved this comparison. Kenma is one of Hinata’s best friends, and for him to make that connection with his roommate, who has barely given him the time of day so far, is really something special. Also, Kenma getting flustered about having to name his favorite game is so on brand
Pedro is starting to make a conscious effort to befriend Hinata!! So important. Hinata thrives on his ability to make friends, and so now this olive branch is coming at the perfect time. Plus, I couldn’t help this panel of mentioning my second favorite manga/anime (MHA for the win!)
Lastly, the pure unadulterated joy we see in Oikawa’s face for managing a near perfect set, and in Hinata’s for spiking a toss from the Grand King himself!! I can’t wait to see more of Hinata’s and Oikawa’s friendship in the next chapter if Furudate gives us that :) Already the past two chapters are my favorite of this arc, and honestly that’s from Oikawa alone. He’s my favorite character!
