Dinner Dates!
SUMMARY: Walmer was a picky eater. A very picky eater. Hugo makes it his mission to ensure his alien boyfriend tries something new.
A/N: sorry this took so long I ran out of motivation halfway through along with ideas, and then decided to end it off now instead of letting it rot in my drafts so sorry if it's a bit lazy D: other than that, enjoy!
“Wally, Walmart, Walter-” Hugo Called as he began to make dinner for him and Walmer.
“Walmer.” the man responded. Hugo assumed that Walmer never fully understood that it was simply banter when he called him a million nicknames that were a variation of Walmer. The man walked into the kitchen while chewing one another one of those mushy brown protein bars. The guy had already burned through a whole case of them in under a month, maybe even two weeks. Hugo stared at the disappointing mush that the blonde had clutched in his hand with such a deathgrip.
“You really enjoy eating those things?” Hugo asked.
“Of course, it’s nutrition. Obviously I need nutrition to live.” Hugo was aware that on Walmers planet, people, or Nautilus for that matter, really only ate food for whatever nutritional value, instead of simple pleasures. He could tell based on how adamant he was on eating such bland, tasteless mush that was those damn bars. Hugo wanted to at least expand Walmers taste buds by a little bit, so he decided to at least try and make something both nutritious and delicious. He rolled out the dough on a floured counter while looking at Walmer.
“Maybe we can try something new tonight for dinner, Wally. Pizza?”
“Pizza.”
“Yes, pizza. I can put different toppings on it for the nutrition you want. Pepperoni, pineapples, mushrooms, peppers… anchovies?” Hugo spread some sauce on the flattened dough, Walmer watched with a curiosity.
“And cheese?”
“Yes Walmer.” Walmer squinted at that, pursing his lips as Hugo sprinkled toppings over different parts of the pizza. To Walmer, the one with the pineapple chunks looked the most appealing, or as Hugo called it: Hawaiian. Walmer didn’t know what made it ‘Hawaiian’, but it looked appealing in terms of nutrition. Cheese in calcium, pepperoni in protein, veggies in vitamins and other cool stuff, it was all appealing. Hugo put it in the small oven and turned to face Walmer, who reached down to kiss his cheek. Hugo giggled at Walmer being so affectionate with him. Hugo returned the affection with a kiss to the cheek as well, and they sat and waited patiently for the pizza to finish cooking, Walmer still chewing away on the protein bar while squished beside Hugo at the small kitchen table.
The oven dinged, and Hugo went to take it out of the oven. Walmer sat expectantly at the table, waiting for the pizza to be cut and handed out. When it was, the man stared at the slice on his plate. It was cheesy, had lots of sauce, was on the greasy side, and had a few proteins and vegetables on it. It didn’t seem very healthy, but he would give Hugo credit for making it taste good. Hugo stared at him with a small smile as the picky eater took a bite of the pizza. To his shock, it was good. Really good. Compared to the bland protein bars, Walmer had never tasted- or seen anything like it. Hugo smiled at him, a genuine smile that showed he cared enough about him to make him a whole pizza to try. Walmer figured he’d make a point to hug the man tighter that night when they went to bed.
