THE CASE OF OINOFYTA: From one hell to another — island to mainland

Oinofyta is a refugee camp run by IOM around 60 km from Athens, Greece. In November 2017 Oinofyta was closed, as conditions did not meet the minimum legal standards. It was re-opened in March 2018, not because conditions had improved, but to meet demand. An AYS team member visited the camp after it had reopened in the summer and noted that conditions were worse than when the camp was initially closed — 9 months later, people exist in the same hell.
