I have seen the trailer for Wild Mountain Thyme. I had to check that I wasn’t having a stroke.
I rediscovered Dr Doolittle, one of my absolute favourite childhood films, this evening while sifting through My Fair Lady clips on YouTube.
Hard on the heels of that realisation was that of the fact that the film is chock-full of anti-Irish racism that went entirely over my head fifteen years ago. I mean, really. Just look at this guy. He's not on the screen five minutes and he is already talking about Patrick and Blarney and green things and comparing his own nation to animals.
Needless to say it is absolutely hilarious. :D It reminds me quite a lot of Finnegan's Ethnic Music from Shore Leave, which dates from around the same time I think.
