Watching an amazing debate on tv right now. The Norwegian government just passed new legislation which will better trans people’s rights in Norway. So they have this patronising douchebag who’s like “what, should these vulnerable people just be allowed to apply for a gender change without a doctor or psychiatrist involved?” and the minister of health just angrily answered that trans people don’t need doctors to tell them who they are. 

And he’s like pointing at this dude and goes “this is a law that will affect very very few, but for those few it is vital.”  And it was so good to see that some politicians do care, because he very obviously did.

Hi there! I've just finished Orange is the new Black and I'm looking for similar shows or just other shows that you think are good! Could you recommend anything? 😊

Hmm I’m not quite sure what shows would be similar to oitnb, because it’s so completely unique. I guess it depends on what part resonates with you (or what you’d want to see in other shows). So I’ll just list some shows I like

Jane The Virgin: This is a ridiculously cute show. You’ll feel so many emotions watching it, because the acting and writing is top notch and I’ll give my left arm if you don’t fall in love with every single character on the show. Seriously. Seriously! Everybody should watch Jane The Virgin

Daredevil: I’ve always had a soft spot for morally ambiguous superheroes. My fave when I was a kid was The Punisher, so I loved Netflix’s Daredevil. The show is so solid, it sort of remind me of the Christopher Nolan’s Batman verse in the way it views superheroes.

Sense8: How do you even describe this show? If tumblr ever got to write a show it would be this fucking show. Selling point: There is a lesbian trans hacktivist character played by an actual trans actress.

In the Flesh: This show ruined me. It’s about a queer zombie trying to live his life in a small town in England where essentially everybody but his family and fellow zombies hates his guts. It’s amazing and will emotionally drain you, but it’s so worth it jfc.

Veep: It’s literally the funniest show ever.

Agent Carter: Strong female lead kicking the shit out of every one and being super confident and badass. Yes thank you!

Honorable mentions: Brooklyn 99, Louie, Steven Universe, Parks and Rec, The Americans, Bob’s Burgers.

I’ve probably forgotten someone so check the notes, because I’m sure there will be a lot of great suggestions there too :3

ETA: Oh right, heard Wentworth is worth checking out if you’d want something similar to Oitnb! Haven’t actually checked it out myself though

I don't understand the need to throw an entire profession under the bus because of some bad seeds. Like my dad is a cop, and I hate that everybody hates cops now because he's a good guy.

I’m not, I clearly say that. But the idea that because you know good cops the entire profession should be exempt from criticism is stupid and if you feel the need to throw that argument around you should take a long look at yourself because you’re a piece of shit. You knowing good cops doesn’t excuse shitty cops, get over yourself.

I love the theory on the bus driver and power, i've never thought of it like that before but it's so friggin true

Right, and it’s applicable to a lot of people. Cops aren’t the only ones that have a job that puts them in a position of power over the rest of society. If the bus driver decides he will punish you for something completely stupid like “you didn’t wave him down”, and pass you you risk being late to something important and you have to wait for the next bus (I’ve experienced this standing on the sidewalk, looking at the oncoming bus with my wallet out).

There is a rigid system imposed on you from every part of society, and often the bus drivers stop for you but sometimes you’ll get that asshole who metaphorically flips you off because haven’t you heard you’re supposed to stand in the middle of the road and wave your arms around now. When you know it, you’ll see the assholes that powertrip all over. They just wildly assume that by not doing something it’s because you don’t respect their position of power over you, so they’ll ruin your day (or if they’re cops, your life) forgetting that they are there to provide a service for us.

There is a documentary due to be released on norwegian television about this little girl, named Emma. She's a 12 year old trans girl, and I'm rooting for her so much! When asked why she wanted to do the documentary, she answered "to show others that they can be who they're supposed to be, and that they're not alone" (◕‿◕✿)
