Okami’s 10th anniversary hit a few days ago, so I figured I’d mark the occasion!

And now for the rest of the #Okami10years celebration:

Day 6: Crossovers:

I’m guessing this is meant for game crossovers in particular, but I like to imagine Amaterasu crossing into other mythologies. How would Ammy deal with the sun devouring wolf, Skoll from the Norse mythos?

Day 7: Favorite Boss  (First Drawing)

My favourite bosses will probably have to be Lechku and Nechku. 

I mean, giant steampunk-esque owl monsters, with a unique battle style and the only boss battle that isn’t repeated later in the game. I’m a bit sad they didn’t get more screentime.

Day 8: Scenery:

I really wanted to do a painting for this one too..

The scenery in this game is amazing. Always makes me want to explore it all over again whenever I replay the game. Shinshu Fields is probably my favourite area, not only because it’s very iconic for the game, but also from the sheer amount of running I’ve done there while just enjoying the soundtrack.

Day 9: Gone Fishin’ :

Okami definitely has one of the most fun and balanced fishing mechanics I’ve tried in a game. Whether it’s fishing with Kokari in Agata, Benkei in Sei’an, the Fisherman in North Ryoshima, or way again with Kokari in Kamui - it’s always nice to take a fishing break from vanquishing the evil of Nippon.

Day 10: The Sun Rises (10 Years and Counting) (Second drawing):

This game has long been one of my favourites, and I can’t believe it’s already been out for 10 years. I got it a bit later in 2007 or 8, and I still remember when I first found it in store. I had never heard of it before then, but I knew that I just had to play it. And it’s given me hundreds of good hours of play and replaying since then. Here’s to 10 years of a great game, and many more hours to come!

🌼10 years of Okami ✑ 10 of many stories ✑ 10 lessons

I had no inspiration to participate in the anniversary countdown, but here’s my tribute to my favorite video game on its special day. What could I do, I told myself? What can I highlight? What of Okami truly stayed with me? And more than the art and the fun gameplay, it’s the stories, it’s the beings we met on the journey. So talking about Okami isn’t just Amaterasu or Issun or Waka, to me. We help and are helped by wonderful individuals who either grow with the plot or symbolize a virtue.

So here’s to the ten of the main people and the things that I feel each taught us along the way. Of course, there are plenty more that who need recognition. I couldn’t include them all or I’d be doing graphics forever! Hopefully at least one of your favorites is in here.
