Some redesigns and concepts for this character inspired Mourning Dove’s beautiful retelling of the Okanogan (correct me if I’m not spelling that right ) Coyote mythos.

Any decently sourced references for Okanogan Washington-border Native clothing would be VERY appreciated. Sin-ka-lip/Coyote is a shape shifter after all and goes between a feral, anthro, and human form a lot of the time.

‘Pretty creepy’: Okanagan man believes he’s captured ‘definitive Ogopogo sighting’ on video

Jim La Rocque believes he witnessed a giant, serpentine creature swimming across the lake with at least seven fins paddling in sync.

A south Okanagan man is convinced he’s captured the most conclusive piece of evidence yet of the legendary and elusive lake monster in the Okanagan known as the Ogopogo.

Jim La Rocque was enjoying his mother-in-law’s lakefront property with his two children in Kaleden, B.C. on June 1 when he says he noticed an inexplicable wake on Skaha Lake.

La Rocque scrambled to record the mysterious ripples breaking through the lake’s glassy surface.

His son was wading on a paddle board nearby.

“Eventually he turns and sees a flipper come out of the water and hit the water, and that’s when he… turned around and started coming back in,” La Rocque said.

Today’s Bonus Weekend Walking Photos: In Friday night’s post I tentatively promised you some hiking photos, and I’m happy to be following through on that. Yesterday we drove 40 minutes out of Winthrop to hike the Blue Lake Trail, culminating in Blue Lake itself at 6,254 feet! (Full disclosure: the trailhead is only 1,050 feet below that.)

It was really a perfect day for it – clear blue skies and not too hot – and the views were stunning. That serene mountain tarn surrounded by granite walls…a pretty compelling sight. It was about a four-mile hike round-trip, and happily I’m only mildly sore/stiff today!

Normally I do a little work on my walking photos before posting them – cropping, light and color adjustments, etc. – but since I brought only my phone with me this weekend and not my laptop, I’m skipping that phase (while it can be done on the phone, it’s more cumbersome and I just don’t have the patience right now) and posting the photos straight from my camera. Hashtag no filter! Hope you enjoy.
