People are complaining because it wasn't the outcome they wanted? Okay, Carol. Maybe it was just bad storytelling! Assuming the uneducated masses are going, "don't like, do over, durrrrr" is so classicist and snobby.
"Ordinary" people, that is non-creatives and non-academics, have an inherent desire for truth, goodness, and beauty; in short, for good art. It will draw them when done well and repel them when it isn't.
