Okema Moore If You Love Me Acapella
Voices - Okema Moore & Malikha Mallette
I remember when Okema called me & told me she wanted me to do her makeup for her first episode of "O on da go" - a web-series that focused on the day in the life of Okema Moore - the magazine owner, director, actress, singer, writer, & whatever else that is thrown this ladies way! She is truly amazing at all that she does & I am truly grateful to be apart of the wonderful XI Magazine team!!
Any who...so she calls me & she's like "guess who is interviewing me for the show?" Whenever, Okema say "guess" I know its about to be some poppin' news. Well, it was, she said "Malikha Mallette, can you believe it?" **smack me silly--umm, no!** For those who don't know, which you should know...you can catch, Malikha Mallette, on Power 105.1 every weekday from 10am-2pm. And you've seen her in a couple of commercials, I'm sure. Anyways, I was hyped. Like really? wow? **speechless**
So the day of the shoot, I pull up on set..ready! The room was filled with love & good ol' fresh pine smell like Christmas tree. I set up & got right to work. I've done Okema's makeup plenty of times, so thats easy...its just what eye I want to give her this time. Which I love because I get to switch it up & play with colors on her. **ok I'm getting off track** ok so bam...Malikha Mallette walks in. Takes off her coat, introduce herself, sits down & pull out her index cards. She's prepping for the interview. I'm watching her like "wow, she means business!" So now its time for me to do her makeup. She sits in the chair. I ask "any allergies? what look would you like?" She answered "No - to the allergies. & natural smokey - to the look" So then I asked, "What are you wearing?" She shows me. I pull out my pallette & homegirl **in my mind** said I want "this, that & this" to the 3 wildest colors in my Make Up For Ever pallette. Now, in my mind I'm conjuring a way to put these 3 insane colors together -- cuz what talent wants, talent gets **in my Vince Vaugn voice**. She looks at me & says "I'm joking...do whatever"
I'm just going to put this out there: Malikha has like the best skin I've ever seen. I think her skin type is 'normal' which isn't even that common. She has a great smile. Nice voice (no wonder she's on radio). Funny. Smart. Witty. She's quick on her toes, which I'm guess is something needed if you are an interviewer. The whole time we cracked jokes about the conversation her stomach was having with itself. (hehe don't kill me Malikha).
After makeup was done, the ladies sat on Okema's couch and began with the interview. Seeing two powerful women in action was truly a blessing. I thank Okema for asking me to be apart of her first web show & I thank Malikha for trusting me to do her makeup. I heart you both!
