2019: Kogi gov gets transferred temporary voter card
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has finally picked his transferred temporary voters card at the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) office in Okene.
Bello, who was accompanied by some of his political appointees, was received by INEC staff and the Administrator of Okene Local Government Council, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammed.
The governor registered in Abuja, prior to the 2015 general elections and all efforts to transfer his voter card to Kogi state, according to him, before the election was unsuccessful.
The governor made another effort to register within the precinct of the Kogi State Government House, Lokoja, an action that generated a lot of controversies.
However, the commission after its investigation indicted the governor but could not prosecute him because of the immunity he enjoys.
The commission, however, sacked three of its staff for their role in the alleged registration saga.
Also, a Federal High Court, Abuja, had fixed March 16th , 2018, for ruling on whether the governor having not been registered in Kogi state is fit to be governor.
The Director- General, Media and Publicity to the Bello, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, confirmed that the governor had picked his transferred temporary card at INEC Office, Okene.
He argued that the governor had been on the issue of the transfer for long and that he is excited it has finally been done by INEC.
But when contacted, the spokesperson for INEC in Kogi state, Mallam Mohammed Bagudu Biambo, said he could not comment on the issue.
