Karissa was far from fluent in Japanese. If it wasn't for Layla chirping away in her ear - unable to join her, but the communication device in her ear worked just as well - she wouldn't have been able to get as far as she could. This of course was not a vacation, but Karissa wasn't known for always following the rules. Like today, she was just enjoying a nice walk through Beika City. Taking in the sights, and even traveling towards the residential areas. If asked by Shales she would lie and say she was just double-checking the area, for traps and such.
She was thankful Shales wasn't here to call her out on her bull-shit.
Of course she knew she had to be careful. They'd received Intel that Emily had come to Japan. This of course could have been a lie, a ruse to get the Palmer PD out of The United States, and that was why she was on her own. The fact she had wanted to visit Japan since she was little, had nothing to do with it.
The free plane fare and cost of living, helped greatly.
Karissa leaned against a nearby fence, digging her cigarettes out of her pocket and lighting one up. She took a drag and then leaned her head back to let it out, smiling at the sky. Of course, she did worry about Kai being alone, she trusted Bruce with her life, and knew he would take care of Kai when she was gone. So she let herself relax a little, not enough to drop her guard, but enough to loosen the muscles in her shoulders.
God forbid she end up like Shales, all stuck up and paranoid.
