Okay, this is really bothering me

(I myself am not a doctor of any sort, and I'm kinda emotional right now so yeah, sorry if I sound weird)

I'm getting really sick and tired of preteens/teens self diagnosing themselves with stuff like autism, Asperger's, PTSD, DID (I think MPD is a dead term, don't quote me on that), OCD, and a whole bunch of other mental health issues.

My little brother is autistic, although he's pretty high functioning, there's a whole bunch of things he can't/doesn't have the proper skills to do. And it pisses me off when I see some shitty kids talk about how their "autism" is acting up or when they act rude and say they can't help it because of X disorder. They say all this shit, yet I highly doubt that they even know a damn thing about how hard it is to live with these conditions, or the conditions themselves.

When I was younger, I was misdiagnosed as autistic and let me tell you, it fucking sucked. In elementary school, I was always made fun of, especially when the school tried to mainstream me (as far as I'm concerned, mainstreaming is when special ed kids get put into normal classes for a certain amount of time each day until they learn how to act "normally". Don't really know the proper definition.). I mean, I met a lot of nice people, and it helped me understand what my brother was going through when he came around, but still both adults and kids can be really mean, especially when they think you can't understand them.

I just don't fucking get it. Why would you want to have any of these conditions? Do people just not fucking understand? What my brother is going through is (and what I went through was) bad enough. It's also bad enough knowing that the general public doesn't really understand these conditions as is, the common censuses seems to be that these people either have an IQ of 1, or that they belong in mental asylums. They don't need to add "shitty teens" to the stereotype. My brother and others like him don't need to see these kids act horribly and use their condition as an excuse. 

I know that I shouldn't let it, but it's really getting to me. Conditions like these aren't jokes. They're not like cute little personality quirks that you can give to yourself/your OCs/your favourite characters as head cannons, etc.

I mean if you really think you have some sort of condition, go see a professional. Please, please go see a professional, do not self diagnose please. Often times you'll get actual support and not a bunch of special snowflake wannabes online. You're asking for a whole world of shit you do not want/ will not know how to cope with when you arbitrarily say that you have X condition just for shits and giggles.
