Finally done! I built and primed this silly gentleman back in 1988 and he has been bouncing around my painting area ever since then and has fallen apart many times since he is all metal, rather heavy, and I never did pin any of the joints for added strength. But now I can call him done.
The metal Wraithguard that have been hanging out in my "pile of potential" since 1991 are finally finished. I had only painted five earlier, as they were really expensive to field in game terms, and these other three have just been waiting their turn for paint. The current rules allow for much bigger units, which pleases me since I can put everything on the table now. The paint scheme for the remainder is the same as the old but a little bit brighter. Yes, I still need to put their white decals on.
I also have a unit of the newer plastic Wraithblades in progress and I've noticed they are significantly larger than the old metal ones.
Eldar Harlequin troupe leader from 1988. I picked up a bunch of metal harlequins 37 years ago, but only painted a few of them and was not satisfied with my paint jobs at the time. So I've had a dozen sitting in a sandwich bag all this time waiting for paint and just recently I had an idea, and finally the skill to execute that idea, and now I want to finish them.
The other thing that came out in 1988 and that I still have is the Citadel expert ink set. I still have a few, and they're still good.
The last of my metal Eldar scouts, purchased and primed in the mid-1990s and then finished this week. The scouts were some of my favorite miniatures in the Eldar line as they really have the look of Galactic adventurers.
The Warp Spiders have finally found their way back into Realspace. I picked up four of the metal ones back in 1992, used them on the table and they were kind of terrible, so the half painted ones went into a sandwich bag and sat there until this year. The plastic ones were released this Spring and I really like the look of them and decided to finish the paint job that I had started 33 years ago.
I like that the new plastics and the old metals are still the same scale, just cleaner lines on their weapons and equipment.
36 years later, I finished a few more Harlequins from my batch that has been sitting primed but unpainted in a sandwich bag since 1989. On the left is a Death Jester and on the right a basic Trouper. I should be finishing another eight Harlequins this weekend, finally.
Fin de Harlequins. I finally finished my metal Eldar harlequins from 1989. I painted six when they first came out, that's the second picture, and the rest of them I did this last few weeks. After taking the second picture I looked at the Solitaire, the yellow headband down front center, and remembered he's supposed to be holding some sort of crystalline neural disruptor in his left hand, so I did a little 38 years later touch up.
I also had this odd figure, metal body but plastic arms, and I remembered he's actually not a Harlequin he came from the Conflict preview figures, the game that later became Necromunda. I decided that he is the central figure when the troupe does the "Masque of the Monkeigh"; while all the rest of the troupe dances around representing the swirl of the heavens and the interconnectedness of all the galactic species the Monkeigh character runs through shooting them all while screaming, "I come in peace! I come in peace!" At the end of The Masque the Monkeigh shoots himself. Curtain.
