I spent this rainy afternoon cleaning old saddles that were my grandma's. She was the toughest and kindest woman I ever knew. Still breaking colts into her late 60's until she got thrown and ended up with a broken arm, collar bone, several broken ribs and a punctured and collapsed lung. In the emergency room they set her arm without giving her any pain medication because she was so calm and stoic that the doc didn't realize she hadn't been given any. She passed away at 95 and would have been 100 last week were she still here.
