Old Chub (aka Jason Giambi) Should Not Be on Our Team
This season, we'll be needing strong drink as Jason "Old Chub" Giambi will be plopped on the bench like a big, skunked keg of lukewarm Bud Light.

I'm more worried about Old Chub getting a roster spot, which just doesn't make sense. Not now that we moved squish to DH/1st. I'm really hoping Tito does the right thing and lets him know we want him as an assistant and to stay on board. I just heard more and more teams are hiring "Assistant Hitting Coaches"... perfect!!!
Make him an assistant hitting coach. Otherwise if we give him a spot, then we limit our bench, cuz Old Chub can't contribute in any other way other than swinging. And even that I just don't think he's got much. Tito's argument is that he can get through to the young guys in a way that no coach can just cuz he's suited up too. So maybe Tito believes that he's only helpful if we give him a spot. Sheesh I dunno.

Yeah who knows. Maybe they just want him hoping it'll sell tickets.
I mean, they can't seriously think he'd add more value than Phelps, Carrera, OR Raburn.
But Phelps needs to play more often so I'm happy with him starting at AAA.

Yeah Phelps is ok, problem is Carrera is on his last option and Raburn is so valuable as a corner OF orrrr infield. Makes him very valuable. Also Carrera is a tough decision, but I say now that we have 3 CF it kinda makes us forced to let him go... and take a chance nobody picks him up and maybe we invite him back with our development
But in any case, Giambi is a bloated addition (literally hehe) because we have Reynolds, Squish, and even Carlos all kinda sharing DH.

But see bc we have so much versatility, I feel like that's why we can keep Carrera...
Squish can play 1B, RF, DH, Reynolds 1B, 3B, DH, Carlos C, 1B, DH, Aviles, 2B, SS, 3B...

Instead of Raburn? Either one, Raburn or Carrera I'm happy with cuz of the defensive options. Doesn't matter which one, just Giambi doesn't fit.

Aviles is much better than Raburn, so you want him getting all the backup ABs you can.

I agree, I think it’s without question that Aviles is the #1 bench player... and its true that if we ever were so desperate that we need more infielders, that's our AAA bread n butter.

Yup. Our minor league in general is stacked with IF.

Well and we can't option him so they just should. I'm so annoyed that just cuz The Goose hit a solo shot the other day, now douches like Underwood are talking about how Giambi is close to getting a spot. Why would anyone think he fits???? I hope its not true
Sigh, well its just the start of the season. Things can always work out through the season
I'm gonna try having some faith.
