“ look at you ... you’re all grown up . ”
georgie’s adult verse won’t be a primary one anytime soon , but i’ll talk about it anyway ! dumps a load of headcanons down here ------
he’s an abnormal child psychologist , meaning he works with children who have issues that derive from trauma and abuse . it also means he is well on his way to having a whole PhD and we love that for him ... he’s doctor ...
he’s never fully understood why he gravitated towards that kind of work because he forgot about living in derry - the town where kids disappeared constantly , and the adults there never seemed to care about children in the slightest , being indifferent at best and genuinely vile people at worst .
oh yeah , and he was on friendly terms with the killer clown eating his friends ?? he never wanted to be that dense and oblivious again . he wanted to grow up into an adult who could be trusted , who cared , who could see when something was wrong and strive to make it right . because kids shouldn’t have to face things that scare them alone .
all george knew was that he wanted to do something worthwhile and help kids , give them someone they could confide in , help them work through their shit . so he went with it . it’s a good job , good pay , and he definitely feels like he’s making a difference and legitimately helping the kids - but at the same time , it can be harrowing . listening to innocent children relay traumatic harm done to them makes you want to drink heavily .
he doesn’t really ?? go by georgie anymore ?? he’s not seven ... he’s thirty three . everyone calls him george now . but he definitely gets why the losers might defer to it when they reunite . the nickname honestly gives him whiplash to their childhoods JFDSFJSD
george hasn’t really settled down with anyone . he’s tried dating , and all , but constantly feels like he should feel guilty for some reason anytime he’s with a man or woman in a romantic setting , as if already tied to someone . it’s hard to shake . unbeknownst to george , he’d promised to keep in touch with one ava oakley and also return to derry one day so they could both make tracks and start a life outside that hellhole town together . i mean , he - technically made good on the last part , at least , right ?
needless to say , she’s extremely pissed when she sees him again . also , she has a daughter now , though her father apparently left the two of them behind upon learning ava was pregnant . ava bitterly remarks she can only seem to love the kind of fuckers that abandon her when she needs them most - her father , georgie , the father of her daughter - and george has never felt more awful in his life . he doesn’t understand how he could have forgotten . he doesn’t , and it kills him .
him and bill went through kind of a weird patch when bill left derry . georgie supported his big brother wanting to go pursue his writing dreams , and all , but was under the impression bill would ... well , acknowledge his existence a lot more than what he did . he always had to call his older brother first and bill always sounded somewhat startled when he picked up the phone , almost shameful - as though georgie had barely crossed his mind in the weeks since they’d last spoken . he didn’t quite forget his little brother in derry entirely , of course , but georgie somehow always ended up pushed to the back of his mind . this was kind of a pivotal point in george changing as a person and stepping out of his brother’s shadow , maturing and no longer seeking bill’s approval or love as needily .
