Ye Olde Fighting Cocks - St Albans, UK
This is one of the oldest licensed pubs in England. The octagonal structure on the left was originally the dovecote of the medieval St Albans Abbey. It was moved to this location some time after the dissolution of the abbey in 1539. It is known by locals as ‘The Cocks.’
The pub’s website makes claims about its history that are disputed by other old pubs in England, including a couple of other pubs in St Albans. This probably gives the locals something to argue about while drinking.
