Kaito had hoped that he’d been able to conceal the ill feeling coiling in his stomach well enough, but apparently not. As his father approached, he obligingly stayed still, tolerating the gentle touch to his forehead with little more than a pout, really. A pout that deepened at the man’s words.
“I’m fine,” he insisted, and proved himself wrong with a wheeze and a cough almost immediately afterwards, “Really,” he added unconvincingly afterwards.
((I can see you being very good at roleplaying Mabel from GravityFalls? But also Sashi from Pzpth. And also Sharon from PandoraHearts. Maybe also Shiemi from AoNoExorcist, yes. I do hope you know at least one of these though??))
(( I know of all of them except for Sashi! Will have to add that to the list of shows I should check out.
But Sharon, yes! She’d be so much fun to write for! And Shiemi is so cute. I haven’t watched Gravity Falls yet because I’m a lazy butt I am a bit busy, and I need to finish Pandora Hearts and Ao No Exorcist. ))
Another one to the list

„Well, old man, care to explain why you are impersonating a dead man?“ Kaito had been following him at a distance for a while now. But this is the first time he dared approaching the person that walked around as Toichi Kuroba. Yet, he decided to drop in as KID, silently turning up behind him – though he couldn’t say if Toichi – or whoever – hadn’t heard him drop down from the ceiling. This guy must be good if he fooled people to believe he was who he claimed to be.
Kaito kept in mind that this one may even be aware that he was facing the infamous poker face and the stoic mask KID was currently wearing was just a front, not actual indifference, but he was fairly certain that his wall was strong enough to not be looked through or over, if seen at all. Leaving the emotions Kuroba Kaito felt in the dark.
KID instead, languidly crossed his arms, leaned his shoulder against the wall and sent the stranger an expectant look.

Kaito couldn’t react at first--- he didn’t know how, there were so many emotions running through him: disbelief that it really was his father standing there, joy that he was alive, anger that he was alive but had hidden it; enough that his Poker Face was straining as he tried to force it to stay.
He felt like the small boy he’d been when the man had died, with the same conflicting emotions and the sheer disability to react. The magician could feel tears gathering in his eyes, and he clenched his teeth, holding to the shreds of his composure.
What should he do? Confirm this old man was really his father? Hug him? Yell at him? Cry?
“Oyaji,” he finally said at last, voice hoarse and wavering. “It’s been a long time...”
