Uma das lojas mais antigas da nossa cidade, já a visitou? A Caza das Vellas Loreto foi fundada em 1789 e desde aí, de geração em geração, é pertença da mesma família. Como o nome indica, dedica-se à criação de velas artesanais para todas as utilizações, de diversos perfumes e tamanhos. O seu espaço acolhedor e perfumado mantém a decoração original com painéis de madeira e balcão, assim como bonitas vitrinas A título de curiosidade, conta-se que quando Franz Liszt , em 1845, veio a Lisboa para um concerto no Teatro de São Carlos, a Caza das Vellas recebeu um pedido de velas vermelhas para iluminar o salão onde o músico iria estar antes do espetáculo. A partir dessa altura, em Portugal, passou a ser possível comprar velas da cor desejada e não apenas as velas tradicionais. Another photo of my trip home...I used to work here at Michelle’s. It was an amazing ice cream parlor, soda fountain, confectionery, and restaurant. Oddly it has been closed for almost 20 years and this prime real estate location still sits empty. Broke into a lot of places yesterday. This was the former “Wee Hoose,” which was a country store that sold fishing supplies, worm bait, Sioux City Sarsaparillas, and Philadelphia Inquirers (one of the few places that did in the 80s). The man’s wife was from Scotland, which is why it had the odd name. After them the place became The Shack and sold the same stuff, and now it looks like it’s being renovated. I just hopped through the wall to be nosy. Hadn’t been in there in at least 25 years.
