Recently, the Hengdian New Summer Palace located in east China’s Zhejiang Province was selected as the first batch of practice and education bases for national primary and secondary school students. It is said that the Hengdian New Summer Palace has successfully recovered 84% construction landscapes of the Beijing Yuanming Yuan, and contains 105 gardens inside. Yuanming Yuan, also known as the Old Summer Palace, was the main imperial residence since Qianlong Emperor of the Qing Dynasty. Constructed throughout the 18th and early 19th centuries, the Yuanming Yuan was considered as an architectural wonder with its extensive collection of gardens, building architecture and numerous art and historical treasures. It was reputed as the "Garden of Gardens" in its heyday, until relentlessly looted and destructed by the French and British troops in 1860 during the Second Opium War. #travel #scenery #oldsummerpalace #history
