Behold, Olive when she was still human!! <3 Boy, for someone who utterly hates rendering tattoos, I sure do end up giving them to a lot of my characters, now, don't I??? She was CUTE lmao
First attempt at adapting Charlie to my style!!! Just assume she's bent at the knee a bit, otherwise she'd be a good bit taller than Olive still hehehehehe >:)
Charlie's attempts at making Olive feel included have unanticipated consequences.

♻️A scrapped idea for your current WIP!

EEEEE THANKS HOMIE!
Aw man so this was a really good question, but I'm gonna go with a scrapped idea from Kol Nidrei.
I originally planned for Olive's status as a Jewish soul lost in Hell to be proven in a much more dramatic fashion. I thought about having no one at the Hazbin Hotel believing her story, try as she might, and thus putting her into a terrible depressive spiral (worse than what Olive is already dealing with - which is BAD ALREADY). The turning point was originally going to come with the character Lute going rogue from Heaven and launching a raid into Hell. Olive would get caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, and Lute was going to kill her.
At first, everyone would be distraught, because obviously, death by angelic steel in the Hazbin-verse = permadeath for a Sinner from Hell. But then there was going to be this moment where, as everyone tearfully stood and began to walk away from Olive's bloodied corpse, Niffty perked up and went "WAIT WAIT WAIT!!! LOOK!!!" And everyone would turn to find Olive's body... Regenerating.
Regenerating as though she'd been killed by mundane means, which is how it works in Hell if someone just shoots you with a regular bullet. You're out for a bit, and then your body heals and you wake back up. The whole 'eternal punishment' thing, right? But in Olive's case, the fact she was regenerating after being killed with ANGELIC STEEL was going to be a SERIOUS twist. It was going to be the moment where the whole hotel cast realized that Olive was regenerating because, at a soul level, being Jewish, she ISN'T A SINNER. Not truly. And then cue everyone feeling horrible for not believing her.
Ultimately, I decided that although this would've been exciting, interesting, and nice and angsty, it introduced a bunch of thorny issues I didn't want to deal with. I didn't want to deal with setting up a complex Heaven plotline just yet, for one thing - there's too much going on with the Hell plotline to begin with and I'm trying not to get too lost in the weeds with a convoluted plot. I also thought that as cool an idea as it was, it removed too many stakes from the story. While Olive being immune to permadeath from angelic steel due to her being foreign to the spiritual system and magic at hand is thematically compelling, it would remove the risk of her ever dying permanently, which didn't click well with other things I wanted to explore in the story. In the most recent chapter, Lucifer establishes to Olive that she doesn't have 'extraterritorial rights', so to speak - and to give her those would derail the unfairness in the narrative. Olive being stranded in Christian Hell is meant to be a tragic, cosmic glitch that shouldn't have ever happened but is making her suffer anyway, so if she had what amounted to a literal superpower over the other denizens of what is meant to be a place of eternal suffering that hurts her especially bad due to her foreignness? The math just didn't math for me.
Not to mention, it's kiiiind of a troubling narrative implication, giving the Jewish character special soul privileges over her goyische counterparts in that way.
We're G-d's Chosen, but Chosen to do the damn dishes, after all.
Thanks so much for the ask!!! <333
Hi!!! For the OC habits game! Asking about Olive eheheh: 3. Do they have unusual speech patterns? 10. Do they need their hands occupied a lot? If so, what do they do? 16. Do they prefer to eat alone or with company?
EEEEE THANKS ATOM YOU THE BESTEST
3. Olive has a few, I think - there is, first of all, the advent of her newfound Sinner body having dinosaur features. She hasn't really learned how to control that new vocal organ in her chest yet, and it produces little trills and bleats when she's upset or incensed, and I often think of these sound elements from Dinosaur Planet for those things. Think of like how Alastor often has elk cries when he's hurt, or how Valentino squeaks like a moth when he's peeved. 0:14 and 1:01 are great examples of the sort of bleat-trill sound I'm picturing. Beyond this, she had a bit of a stutter when she was a kid that can still sometimes come out if she's really overwhelmed, and her voice also tends to get really shrill and high and nasal when she's upset. On the flip side, when things are hot and heavy, her voice can get SHOCKINGLY husky in proper butch lesbian fashion hahaha. She's just gotta be comfortable to get there.
10. Olive's got a few hand fidgets, absolutely! She tends to wring her hands, compulsively pick at her claws, or fidget with her antennae - gently twirling or wringing them like a lock of hair when she's nervous or jittery. And she is OFTEN jittery, so yeah, go figure.
16. Olive definitely prefers to eat with others - she's a far more social person than she lets on, but frequently feels out of her element and frets over being secretly hated/unwelcome so I think she probably steals away and eats alone a lot if she can get away with it. This is a habit that Vaggi especially does NOT let Olive keep up, and lays down the law with her a lot that she CANNOT keep hiding in her room to eat. Mama bear vibes, LOL.
Thanks for the ask!! <3
