Pondering on Oliver more, I think it's quite fun to think of him as someone who cares Soooo much about the people around him despite his efforts not to... more thoughts below

ok hi I think this is how read mores work its been a while

ANYWAYS Oliver has such a soft and tender heart and he Hates it. He's all bark and only some bite; even when he's being a pushy asshole, there's still the deep-rooted desire to soften up around others and Genuinely relax. Does he ever let himself do this? Oh absolutely not, even if he gets sorta close to it sometimes...

He misses his friends badddd no matter how much he tries to push them away or forget about them. Yes he's still mad at Ortega for never coming to get him. No he cannot stay away from him if he tried 🙄 (and he has). That's his best friend and secret crush, he's been thinking about him every day for better or for worse. He has many complcated feelings about Ortega, but that's normal for Sidestep methinks... Absolutely needs to fall apart in his arms, who knows when he'll let that happen, though.

He misses Anathema a lot :( He's definitely repressing the loss of them Hard. I'm sure there were times he'd thought about them during his capture, or after his escape (or, of course, the dreams), and he's just Never ever unpacked it even a little bit. I think visiting their grave would probably help with that, but he's for sure steered clear thus far. I think this goes hand in hand with falling apart in Ortega's arms tbh, that Heartbreak convo is needed BADLY.

He misses the others too ofc !! Even if he and Chen weren't friends before, I think their current relationship having improved a bit does make him think back on their previous interactions a little more fondly. Well, maybe that's not quite the word, but he's a little more willing to let bygones be bygones. Still really upset/shocked when he finds out about the photos, though. He misses Sentinel and Ashfall too, though I need to see more of them & their relations to him to properly dig into it. (I'm still slowly working through patreon stuff, and I'm excited for when they show up in the future !! :] ) But I think they were more on the positive side..

For Oliver's newer relationships (Argent, Herald, Mortum) he's definitely got his own weird feelings he's sorting through there as well.

He's not especially close with Argent, at least not now, but holds respect for her. She's a little intimidating to him, and he knows better than to underestimate her. If their relationship improves, I think they'd be fine friends though...

Mortum is interesting because when he grew closer to her as a friend, he like. Absolutely would have wanted to tell her about himself sooner. It's something he'd need to unpack a little because Wow he was pretty sure about that, but I think she was the first person he could like... Allow himself to consider a friend. Probably has to do with her also working in villainy, but also he just genuinely liked hanging out with her. He's lonely!!! He Shouldn't have hero friends, she's technically okay to hang out with !!

Oh Herald... You are everything Oliver wants to be but cannot... Oliver was absolutely jealous and bitter about Herald being a replacement, that much was true. It for sure became another bullet on his list of "reasons to stay away from the Rangers". Actually getting to know him was like the best and worst thing that could have happened to Oliver, because yes, Daniel is an enemy and naive and keeps bringing up the past, but damn it, he is so nice to be around... He's so nice. A genuine breath of fresh air from all the negativity Oliver is constantly dealing with. It's not always perfect, and Daniel is definitely more nosy than he'd like, but he'd be lying if he said he didn't really like him. It's frustrating to him, letting himself soften up for this guy. He's mayhaps a little bad at holding his feelings back.

(**may expand on this another time this is sloppily being added in post) Oliver misses being sidestep no matter how he tries to claim that version of him is dead. "Sidestep is dead" uh huh yeah Okay buddy you keep telling yourself that 🙄 I saw you going to Rangers HQ again. I saw you have feelings abt getting a new little shelf in the fridge you're not slick
