Sophia checked her phone for probably the 20th time that night, sighing as she still saw no text or call from Oliver. They had planned to meet for drinks three hours ago, and Oliver just never showed. She knew he wasn’t the type to just bail on plans, so a deep set of worry slowly started to wash over Sophia.
She paid for her drinks and made her way out, finding her way out of the bad and towards the direction of Oliver’s apartment. She was hoping that maybe he had just fallen asleep or got caught in something and not something worse.
She knocked on the door a few times, hearing no answer. She looked around the building, trying to find anything she could that could lead her to where Oliver might be.
Her body froze when she heard a soft moan coming from the alley next to Oliver’s apartment. She followed the moans, gasping when she saw Oliver’s bruised, bloody, and beaten body on the ground, groaning softly. “Oliver!” She cried, running to the boy’s side. She helped sit him up, eyes darted over every inch of his body, taking in all his injuries. “What happened, Oliver?” She said, lightly cupping his face to keep him up right. “They…….they all came at me at…….at once.” He managed to get out. “It’s okay, Oliver. It’s okay now, you’re safe.” She said softly, pulling out her phone to call 911.

Megan had a hard time studying in her dorm. It was great that she was living with such great people, and people that really did know how to have a good time, but when it came to studying the place was not the best for concentration. Because of this, when the girl wanted to focus on her work, she made her way to a small coffee shop that she had found on the first few weeks of going to this college. It was small, but not too small, intimate but not intimidatingly so, and she had a spot in the corner by the window that she always managed to score.
Today was no different. She needed to study up on Frankenstein for a paper that she would have to write in the next couple of weeks. She had read the book twice, and was now going through it and picking out major points and passages to support those points. Her almost forgotten latte sat on the edge of the table, just close enough for her to reach but far enough away that her books and her laptop had space. She picked up the coffee, sipping it with a cringe as she realised it was cold, and made her way to the counter to order another.
