“What makes you think that is a good idea?”
She rose an eyebrow at his question before showing a small smirk then shaking her head. ❝I know it’s not a good idea, but I think it’ll be worth it. Don’t you think he deserves it anyway, Big bro?❞ Glancing back over her shoulder at the unfamiliar kid messing around with another one, she pursed her lips and watched as the bigger one was only bullying the smaller one. ❝It’s not like I’m using my powers for bad this time. He shouldn’t be harming somebody like that.❞ She stared into the older one’s eyes after facing Matty once again. ❝I promise, it’ll only be two seconds and I’m sure I can stay in control. You believe in me, don’t you?❞ Her eyes continued to stare at his for a while, simply searching for a sign that let her knew he did.
“I’m not going to sit here while you destroy yourself.”
His words hit her very deep down. It was the last thing she wanted from him. She respected him, cared for him, and loved him to the point that she’d be willing to go to the Underworld and back. Out of all her siblings, the one whom she deemed closest to was Matty and aside from their parents, he tended to make her feel less lonely, so when he said such things, they truly hurt. However, she wasn’t going to cry in front of him. She wanted to be stronger than she was and to her, that just meant sucking it up and continue to go through life. Plus, it was much more than that. ❝Fine. Leave. I didn’t ask you to stick around, Matthias. Just take a look at Enzo. You don’t see me telling him to take care of me. I’m fine all on my own.❞
Finally facing away from him, she kept her arms crossed while her eyes stared at the ground, her hands slowly shaking. She didn’t want to push him away, but decided it could be for the best. Being pessimistic about herself on the inside, she already assumed she would cause him trouble in the end and the longer she stayed attached to him, it would hurt a lot more. Suddenly though, her mother’s words, change is necessary, ran through her head and began to wonder if this type of situation was what she meant. Or maybe it was just the world telling her that she really did need to change something about herself. Thing is, she didn’t quite know how to and was too stubborn to ask for help right now.
