Carey chuckled, taking a bite of his chip as he sat across from his friend in the ambulance. The bus was driving around, waiting for a call. It had, surprisingly, been a slow night for them, and they were all doing their best to stay awake on these twelve hour shifts.
Suddenly there was a beep on the dispatch, and Eric picked up the radio. “We’re on our way.” He placed it back on the dash, and turned on the signal. “Domestic dispute. Doesn’t sound like it ended well.”
Carey groaned, “How are we part of the same species of “men” like that?”
Eric shrugged, “I don’t know.”
They rushed through traffic, the police already there at the house. It was huge. The man looked to be quiet rich. Great. The girl is either going to be running back and this will be a regular occurrence. He sighed, carrying his things inside to the scene with Eric.
The girl was there, an athletic looking thing. Blond hair, slender. She was knocked out. Fuck. They both rushed to her side, Eric closer to the couch, getting a pillow for her head. Carey grabbed the blood pressure monitor, “118 over 78. It’s a little low. Probably from the knock out.” Eric nodded as he worked on her, checking her heart. Carey picked up her head, grabbing his flashlight to look into her eyes.
“Her name is Olivia.” An officer stated, Carey nodding.
“Olivia. My name is Carey, can you hear me?” He noticed the black eye already starting to form.
“Track marks.” Eric said, holding the girls arm.
“Olivia, are you able to follow this light?” He asked, holding it upwards to where it wouldn’t be pointed to her, moving it.
