Amaranthe es una de las dos bandas que se estarán presentando juntas por primera vez en Rosario el 24 de noviembre en el Teatro Vorterix. Con motivo de dicha visita a nuestros pagos, tuvimos la posibilidad de entrevistar a Olof Mörck, líder y guitarrista de la banda, quien muy amablemente respondió un par de preguntas y nos dejó en claro que está muy emocionado por pisar tierras argentinas.
MSM: Antes que nada, ¡bienvenidos a Latinoamérica! Sabemos que no es la primera vez para Elize, pero sí lo es para el resto de la banda. ¿Están emocionados con su visita?
Olof: ¡Extremadamente! ¡Absolutamente! Hemos recorrido el mundo ampliamente, y hemos tocado en muchos países diferentes, que resulta emocionante llegar a lugares completamente nuevos en un nuevo continente. Hemos estado esperando esto por mucho tiempo, ¡ya es hora!
MSM: First of it all, Welcome to Latin America! We know it is not the first time for Elize, but it is for the rest of the band. Are you excited with your visit?
Olof: Extremely! Absolutely! We have toured the world so extensively, and played so many different countries, that it is very cool to come to completely new places, on a new continent! We have been waiting for this for a long time, and it is really about time!
MSM: ¿Qué es lo que más los emociona de venir aquí?
Olof: Hemos escuchado muchas cosas buenas acerca de la audiencia argentina por parte de otras bandas, y también por parte de Elize, y todos dicen buenas cosas acerca de la escena y de los fans de allá. Por lo que, poder experimentarlo en carne propia, será muy emocionante.
MSM: What’s the most exciting part for you guys about coming here?
Olof: We have heard many great things about the Argentinian audience from other bands, and also from Elize herself, and everyone keeps saying very good things about the scene and the fans there! So, to experience that for ourselves will naturally be very exciting.
MSM: Felicitaciones a Nils por ser, ahora, un miembro más de la banda. ¿Tienen en mente entrar al estudio a grabar con él en el corto plazo?
Olof: ¡Gracias! Tan pronto como el nuevo álbum esté compuesto, entraremos al estudio tan rápido como sea posible. Muy probablemente sea en la primera mitad del próximo año, ya que estamos llenos de ideas y tenemos muchas cosas que queremos probar, y presumir de Nils, ¡por supuesto!
MSM: Congratulations to Nils for being now a full time member of the band. Are you planning on hitting the studio soon with him?
Olof: Thanks! As soon as the new album is written, we will enter the studio as soon as possible! Very likely in the first half of next year, as we are full of ideas and great things we want to try - and to show off Nils, of course!
MSM: Ustedes tienen nada menos que tres shows este año acá, en Argentina, dos con Delain y uno junto a Tarja y Delain. ¿Están deseando que lleguen esas fechas?
Olof: Nunca antes hemos tocado con Delain, y todos los shows que hemos tocado junto a Tarja han sido realmente grandiosos, ¡así que creo que será un increíble combo! Ello combinado con la ambición de muchos años de ir y tocar en Argentina, hará que los shows sean asombrosos.
MSM: You guys have no less than three shows here in Argentina this year, two with Delain and one with Tarja and Delain. Are you looking forward for the shows?
Olof: We have never played with Delain before, and all the shows we have played with Tarja have been really great, so I think it is going to be an awesome package! That combined with the ambition to come and play in Argentina for many years will make for some really amazing shows!
MSM: Maximalism es el trabajo que están promocionando ahora mismo por todo el mundo. ¿Qué pueden contarnos acerca de él? ¿Qué respuesta ha tenido por parte de sus fans?
Olof: Es un álbum muy audaz, que prueba muchas cosas nuevas, tal y como un Amaranthe debería ser. Por un lado es más pesado, y por otro lado se inclina más hacia el pop, pero al final es 100% Amaranthe, y es definitivamente un álbum de metal en el fondo. La repercusión ha sido muy buena, y aunque el sencillo “That Song” pudo haber sido una elección algo controversial, lo que sentimos al estar de gira con este álbum, es que la gente lo ha recibido extremadamente bien.
MSM: Maximalism is the work you are introducing now all over the world. What can you tell us about it? What is the feedback from your fans so far?
Olof: It is a very adventurous album that tries many new things, just like an Amaranthe should be. In some ways it is heavier, and in other ways it is more towards the pop side - but in the end it is 100% Amaranthe, and definitely a metal album at heart. The feedback has been very great, and even though the single 'That Song' might have been a controversial choice, our feeling from touring with this album is that people have received it extremely well.
MSM: ¿Hay alguna canción del disco nuevo que les gusta mucho tocar en vivo?
Olof: Nunca hemos tocado en vivo “Limitless”, así que estamos esperando poder hacerlo. ¡Ojalá podamos tocarla en Argentina!
MSM: Is there any song from your new album that you really like to perform live?
Olof: We have never played 'Limitless' live, so we are very much looking forward to that. Hopefully already in Argentina!
MSM: Estuvieron en la última edición del 70000 Tons of Metal. ¿Cómo fue dicha experiencia?
Olof: Fue, quizás, la mejor experiencia con la banda hasta el momento. Estar en un crucero en el Caribe por cinco días con 3000 metaleros es un concepto genial, y el tener un día libre en Haití fue una inimaginable y grandiosa experiencia.
MSM: You were in the last edition of the 70000 Tons of Metal. How was the experience?
Olof: It was perhaps the best experience with the band so far! Being on a Caribbean cruise ship for five days with 3000 metal heads is an awesome concept, and having a day off in Haiti was an unimaginably great experience!

MSM: Por último, pero no menos importante: ¿les gustaría decir algo a sus fans que los están esperando con ansias?
Olof: ¡Estamos MUY emocionados de ir y tocar en Argentina por primera vez! Siempre hemos sentido un gran apoyo desde allá, y poder vivirlo en persona será maravilloso. GRACIAS a todos los que han apoyado a Amaranthe a lo largo de los años. ¡Nos vemos pronto!
MSM: At last but not least: would you like to say something to your fans that are waiting for you?
Olof: We are SO extremely excited to come and play in Argentina for the first time! We have always felt a great support from there, so to experience that in person will be wonderful! THANK YOU to everyone who have supported Amaranthe throughout the years and see you soon!
Here's a funny little tidbit... When Arch Enemy were recording our @patricullaeus trilogy of music videos in Sweden ( #WarEternal , #YouWillKnowMyName and #NoMoreRegrets ), I was staying with @elizeryd and raided her closet for accessories and clothing to wear in the music videos since I had nothing with me ( I even borrowed some things from @amarantheofficial's #olofmorck 's house!) Let's see who can figure out what part of Elize's wardrobe I wore in the first AE videos and photos... Anyone checking out @amarantheofficial 's current North American tour will see it!
