I adore these old colonial buildings in what was once the heart of Batavia, or more of what we know it today, Kota Tua. This was taken in the rooftop of the Kerta Niaga building, I believe a colonial era trading company (correct me on this). But I think heritage building like these deserve better care and maintenance not only the government but also from those who really care about Jakarta's heritage. Thankfully, these buildings are now being looked after and restored, one by one, from various consortium and public-private-partnerships. They hope that in the coming year, these buildings can be fully operational and be used as marketplaces, hotels, art spaces or even what they were built for, office spaces! (That last one doesn't seem as interesting though tbh 😂) Fingers crossed! #olvtown #semasadikotatua (at Kerta Niaga, Kota Tua)
