Hehehehe...it happened again! Krita truly is my angst and curse painting program. This piece is what I truly wanted to make for the mechanisation RP, but feared I wouldn't have time for. But it took a bit longer to get to the fight, so I was able to finish it on time. I wanted to emphasise she isn't herself. She is a machine, meant for battle. Still...parts of the true self can be seen in the imitation. That mechanical claw sure looks like her usual gauntlets. The part on top of her helmet resembles a hammer. Her mechanical booster wings still look like her own. She is still in there, somewhere. But how much control does she truly have? We shall see.
Whoa! She is now involved in a date RP with @dizzy-dudd 's Lady Lunala! (Yes, this is being played out at the same time as the mechanisation RP. Though technically in universe it takes place the Friday before. Wild week!) Lunala invited her for an evening in town, but she hides a bit of a secret...she's also a knight! (And a singer. And a witch.) A bit of an issue as she has to take on all those roles while wanting to keep this secret from Olympea. Fortunately the plot demands that Olympea coincidentally doesn't realise this. But how long can this continue?
For a roleplay taking place during the HWC invasion! I struggled massively while making this. I just could not envision the design of mechanised Olympea even though I had written out most of what I wanted for months. It is still gaudy as heck imo, but I'm just gonna say that fits considering how gaudy Mecha Knight was.
we've shown our attack on u to 2 friends who both think it looks like olympea is being flung like a ball. so heres a transparent olympea for you to also fling at things lmao
Yeahhhh, so I spent the last couple days frantically drawing emotion tuppers for Olympea. 18 of them, in fact! I can't even fit all of them in here! The rest will follow later.
Almost forgot to post this! The mechanisation RP is taking a lot longer than we all expected, but we finally made it to the Heart chamber of Star Dream! ...And then there was a baby inside the heart as a battery. A goopy fecto baby. And much conflicted emotions were had.

Painting practice! I want to get better at putting characters in environments, so I redrew a photo of an alpine lake. And then put Olympea in so it would qualify as Kirby art HSHSK
Maybe she got somehow transported there? Idk. Maybe I'll draw someone on a volcano next and say it's Halcandra. Or flying above the clouds.
I like painting like this. It's rough but also 5 thousand times faster than sketching and lining and flat colours. Probably because I'm not agonising about every stroke and only worrying about shapes. Shapes instead of lines works much better when you're trying to capture an environment.
I've always wanted to do those aerial paintings but I can never get the perspective right without just copying a photo and I want to get better at that. Like yeah, I do draw it freehand, but I want to be able to make up my own scene altogether and only need the reference for things like how to draw the twilight atmosphere or fluffiness of the clouds themselves, or how to do things like spread vegetation out naturally or draw a convincing rock. But to do that I'd first have to study the effect things like twilight have on the perceived colour of the environment and familiarise myself with the essence of clouds and plant life and rocks until I can properly conceptualise them in my mind. So reference photo it is, for now.
That's another thing I'd like to get better at. Lighting conditions. I can eyeball colours and draw a character in neutral lighting perfectly well. And have a...decent grasp of shadows. But the second weird lighting hits the scene? I'm lost. But I think if I can break out of the neutral colours, 'vaguely lit from above in front' safe zone, I could really bring my art to the next level.
