Mercedes CLS with OM642 engine in limp mode/delayed acceleration. Xentry picked up P2009 code. A very familiar code this one. These engines commonly suffer from failure of the intake manifold. These manifolds are fitted with swirl flaps which manipulate air speed to create better torque at low RPM, enhanced fuel economy and reduce emissions. Unfortunately, the design of this mechanism is flawed and commonly fails. As carbon builds inside the manifold over time it puts more pressure on the swirl flaps which connect to the lever, this inevitably cracks the plastic lever. This leads to the lever no longer moving the swirl flaps throwing the engine into limp mode.
