ok im sorry but there’s this one scene in chapter 19 of omb that I feel like needs more attention or maybe it’s just me idk.

but when ruby tries to tell his parents what he’s feeling or not feeling and how he feels numb and how he’s trying to become the ‘old ruby’ again, his mom just said the most ignorant adult thing: “you’re too young to feel numb. big feelings...they’re good. that’s the gift of youth.” and I hated that. I feel like that’s how a lot of parents react when their kids try to open up and that’s just wrong. I may be interpreting too much or if this doesn’t make sense plz tell me lol.
