off on his first adventure- hope he plays nice
And now its 6:20
A slight tweak to Ombre's design WHO I APPARENTLY HAD NOT DRAWN SINCE 2019
Did Sonic and Shadow name their fusion together? Was it someone else who named him? Why 'Ombre'?
That's actually a really good question that I hadn't fully considered- where did that name come from in universe... I think it makes more sense that they haven't labeled themselves at all yet. Since the first time they fused was in the middle of a battle I think this might be the first time they've got to explore existence. I mentioned a few years ago that they refer to themselves as just "hedgehog" when talking to themselves. I feel like in-universe that name should be gifted to them from someone like Amy or even Vanilla... someone capable of thoughtful recollection. As to the meaning behind Ombre, its really ombré which is an adjective describing two tones that shade into each other... like a gradient, but typically from light to dark like so:
So its quite literally a blend between two colors... being Sonic and Shadow. Also picked because of its similarity/origin with umbra (latin: darkest part of a shadow) and ombrer (french: to shade)
There's also a texture thing going on with Ombre that I fear I'll only be able to show off in a painting or 3d model... the blue parts of him look like glass and shimmer
