“Innamorata” by Ava Reid
i initially picked this book up because of the cover and the end page art. i’m a sloot for renaissance art and the artist that did the end pages did so good. absolutely beautiful. @marymetzgr is the artist, and i highly recommend you check out her page.
this book…it was so unlike anything i’ve ever read before, and i loved almost every bit of it. i was a little nervy that it was going to piggyback off of “Alchemised” (one of two of my holy grail reads of 2026) due to the necromancy aspect, but i was very sorely mistaken, and gladly so. there were some very odd scenes, that just confused me as to how they contributed to the plot; but they did however add to the overall vibe, so i wasn’t mad. this book was so beautifully written. ava reid writes like she herself is not from this era, and does it so well, i was flabbergasted in the best way possible. i didn’t know it was a duology, but i am glad that it is. i’m excited for the next book. i highly recommend, 4.5/5
Disturbia - 2007
