“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
Shitty Knight is your typical high schooler nearing the end of his senior year. He’s popular, has a girlfriend he adores, and a best friend he’d do anything for, but how can he be expected to handle school on a glorious spring day?
Shitty takes the day off and cajoles his best friend, the tightly wound, Jack Zimmermann to cut class with him.
Jack: “I’m not going to risk getting thrown off the team because I’m ditching school, man.”
“Jacko, live a little, will you?”
Jack’s dad is NHL legend, Bad Bob Zimmermann, and much is expected from Young Jack.
Shitty’s dad expects a lot from him as well, but Shitty brushes most of it off.
They pick up Lardo, an artist, from school and spend the day exploring all of the finest things the city of Boston has to offer.
“The question isn't 'What are we going to do?',” Shitty says. “The question is ‘What aren't we going to do?'” Lardo adds as they fist bump.
Their day off includes almost running into Mr. Knight at a business lunch at Bistro du Midi, a Red Sox game, the Museum of Fine Arts, and more—all while dodging the Dean of Students, Mr. Murray.
Meanwhile, Shitty’s sister, Hilary, is sick of him always getting his way so she tries to get him busted.
All in all, they make it back home without getting caught, and each one learns a little something about what they want from their future.
Jack wants to play hockey on his terms; Lardo wants to go to art school; and Shitty—well, Shitty just wants to help people and not be a corporate goon... and have an occasional day off.
