You know, I love all the characters from the Game Changers Universe, but for some reason, even if I think they are really cute, Skip is my least favorite of them all.

At least a little of that is the fact that they feel like they are the Most Written For the Straight Gaze couple by far, but there was something else I couldn't put my finger on.

I was thinking about it just now, and I realized that its because I already have one set of queer hockey boys who break the internet by kissing on the ice after one of them has just won the Stanley Cup, and that is my perennial favorite boys Jack Zimmermann and Eric "Bitty" Bittle. I just think there is a little more situational tension in the Check Please! verse because the tension is not about staying closeted killing their relationship, its Bitty's family, Jack's past with anxiety/meds/Parse/his father's legacy that makes it more cathartic when the kiss.

Like, I'm not complaining here, this is very much a 'wow two cakes!' type situation. I just really love the Check Please verse more for this specific storyline.

Also it makes it really hard to do a crossover, bc now you gotta remove one of them from being the first, and that kinda makes it not fun to do a crossover.

since it starts when bitty is 18, the vibe has to be a cross between the innocence of heartstopper and the risqué-ness of heated rivalry

we obviously divide the seasons the way ngozi does the books, where we get the first kiss at the end of s1

but i need to see bitty and jack falling, i want andi mack levels of look backs (I've never seen that show)

but do we adapt to in the current year? or keep it in the 2010s? - i think the vibe of overcompensating is perfect where you’re not sure what decade it is but there’s a LOT of nostalgia

how serious do we want it to be, in terms of the realities of frat life with hockey boys
