June 27th

So today is kinda reflective for me because where I am now is very much due to where I was a year ago. It was a day for adventure. Summertime, I'd just gotten out of a very weird emotional state and decided to give up on boys. I even repeatedly scoffed at a friend who said I'd go to Chicago, meet someone, and forget all about them. I was very adamant that it wouldn't happen because I was only gonna be there for a few days for pride and anyone I did meet would be too far away for anything to happen. And so I got on the bus in KC with two of my friends and we were off to stay with a couple other friends and enjoy the pride festivities. I'd done it a couple years in a row and figured it'd be the same as the other times. After 10 long hours we finally pulled up to the stop and saw our two friends. But there was another person with them. Panic. New people. Oh dear god no. Well let's hope this is not horrible. And it wasn't. He was almost immediately one of my favorite people and so, kicking and screaming inwardly, developed a crush on him despite the fact that he lived on the coast. I'll spare most of the long winded mushy details but as time wore on we talked more and we actually ended up together that fall. Now we've been together a while and are doin the whole cohabitation thing. So very far from where I thought I'd be a year ago. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
