Make Money Online | Fiverr: For the Virtual Seller (Older Version)
If you want a personalized way to make money online, Fiverr® is just the right destination for all that and more. With their new V2 update, you will be able make $5 and/or more for whatever gig you can offer. This article will focus on the older version of Fiverr, since the newer one is currently just a beta test for current users. I will cover the V2 update in a separate post.
Fiverr is an online services marketplace that offers its community of skilled sellers (of any kind) a platform to market and sell whatever it is they do for as little as $5. It allows you to get as creative as you want and on top of that brings a personalized touch to each creation. The Fiverr network caters to buyers and sellers alike in order to promote both parties ventures and receive a successful result. Sellers are ranked in levels, receive ratings from a rounded previous gigs, and communicate with potential buyers easily. For sellers: post a gig (text or video), a buyer will buy your gig, you deliver (on or offline), and you get paid. It is super easy and safe for both buyer and seller - win, win.
Pros:
Post any type of gig: write an article, review your resume, do your homework, design logo, and so much more.
Depending on your level, you can add “Gig Extras” - multiple gigs and services for the individual gigs. For example: if you can deliver the gig in 1 day, double the gig, or maybe even increase visibility - you can customize it to your liking.
They offer 50 free Fiverr business cards (excl. shipping).
You can view “buyer requests” - a section where buyers can post what exactly they are looking for and you can message them (submit offers, V2).
Connects to Paypal.
Cons:
The buyers pays $5, Fiverr takes $1, and in the end (after Paypal insertion fee) you are paid $3.92. A hefty decrease.
Ghost buyers (as I like to call them) - buy your gig but never submit information, so that you can complete it and get paid. It’s so unnecessary and annoying to see in the “my gigs” tab. Fiverr should allow a one or two week expiration date for the buyer to submit information. If we receive one, why can’t they - right?
Fiverr does not allow the sellers to post links and emails. This can be a good and bad thing, mostly good. But the buyer can post their own links and emails - so this is much of a con.
