It's a little weird to think of just how similar our experiences have been

I think that’s true of a lot of us, honestly. The more trans folks I meet, although there are always a lot of differences because we’re all individuals, the more things from my past I realize are common trans experiences that I share with others.

I know that feeling so well...I had a costume I perfected and was constantly on guard to make sure that no one could spot anything "peeking out"

Yep. I started calling mine “the mask” after the fact. At the time I didn’t think of it that way, though – I’d walled off that part of my mind that knew who I really was and why I felt the things I did, and let others define me. That was a hard habit to break.

I used to fantasize that I would witness a crime so heinous that I needed to go into the witness protection program and have my identity changed the most that it could to protect me....it's the only way I ever saw it happening (I was like 12 and there was nothing out there)

This was a great read....I'd definitely been feeling some effects and was aware this was a thing. I'd mostly been dealing with emotional fluctuations. However I'm currently laying with my legs up because it's the only thing that slightly eases the swelling in my legs (mostly thighs) for the last few days and it all makes a lot more sense now.

Oh yeah, I’ve definitely experienced bloating as well. Hope you feel better!
