There is more than 1 east asian board game!

So many times, i have people watch my politics video and comment something like this.

i've also seen "that is a bizarre placement of stones on the board!"

They do this because they see the board and the stones of the game on my desk and think that it's Go, because that's the only game they know played on that board with those pieces It isn't Go😁

The game shown in that video is Omok, a korean version of a japanese game called Gomoku. i've played this game since i was a little kid, and we have family tournaments where we find out who is the family champion.

i say this because it is universally white guys who make the comment. And to be clear, i love the fact that you all like Go. it's a fun game. But if you see someone "of the culture" playing a game or making a move you don't understand, perhaps your first thought shouldn't be "that's a terrible move."

Rather, "why did he make that move? is it an odd strategy, or a different game?"

like california schools seem amazing for poor old me cause the cold is starting to affect me more now but at the same time it’s like. 4+ years without snow seems like too much

like west coast people who come here are always like “why are east coast people so angry and always in a rush” so i feel like i would by like “WHY ARE THESE PEOPLE SO RELAXED WHY DO THEY WALK SO SLOW IS IT CAUSE THE WEATHER IS NICE AHHHHHHHH”
