@zahraalgernon liked (x) for a plotted demon au starter!
Clione sighed as he waited for his chamomile tea to cool down. He’d had a headache all morning, and his mother’s increasingly louder croaks weren’t helping.
He let his head fall on the kitchen table with a loud thump! and closed his eyes with a whine. Maybe he should have stayed in bed that morning, after all…
There had to be a potion he could make that would rid him of menstruation forever. Though, preferably, he would figure out a true transformation potion that would fix not only this problem, but all the things he disliked about his current body…
He lifted his head to take a sip of tea, humming as the bittersweet taste filled his mouth. For a moment, there was peace.
Then the wards started screaming.
Clione jumped from the chair with haste, the teacup getting dangerously thrown onto the table and almost spilling its contents all over it.
Something had grasped at the dimensional wards his mother had placed upon the cottage and the pocket dimension they hid in had been unfolded without his permission.
The alarms blaring inside his mind became more distraught with each passing second, as if even the cottage itself was scared of this intruder.
The boy took a hesitant breath as he picked up his mother, a panicked look in her eyes, and turned to the door. Whatever -whoever- was out there already knew about the cottage, so there was no point in hiding from the situation.
Clione truly wished he knew how to cast magic, at that moment. It was hard not to feel helpless.
As he took a reluctant step towards the front door, he was startled to hear knocking, of all things.
Another breath. Maybe, just maybe, this person didn’t have any bad intentions, and he was being unfair towards them…
A trembling hand opened the door, and Clione forced himself to exhale the air in his lungs.
“...Hello?”
