A boy plays by the first house to be hit by Ebola in Sierra Leone. Finda Nyuma was a renown Sowei (traditional healer and birth attendant), who got infected by a patient who came in from Guinea to see her. Her husband and grandson who were living with her also got infected. When she died, other soweis from nearby communities came to perform her funeral rites, which involved a lot touching so they all got infected and took the disease to their respective communities. That is how Sierra Leone ended up losing thousands of people to Ebola.
