Scene 2

Intrams. Booths are scattered everywhere. Students buy foods and enter booths.

HUIN walks with an earphones on. Jail booth and fortune-telling booth is on his left side, near the road.

A student bumps into HUIN. He takes off his earphones.

YURI

(Grabs HUIN’s arm)

It’s your lucky day today, pretty boy! We have the best service here! And guess what? We are also the crowd’s favorite booth! So, follow me to see what is written by your fate!

HUIN

Uh... I’m actually not interested–

YURI

(Drags HUIN inside the fortune-telling booth)

No, uh! You are our first customer! So, don’t be shy!

HUIN

But you said you are the crowd’s- (YURI forcefully and exaggerately makes HUIN sit on a chair)

(SPOOKY LIGHTS and SMOKE enters. HUIN looks around and coughs.)

ARIZELA

(In a Russian accent)

Bonjour! Como estas! Hello! How are you? I’m fine, thank you! And you?

HUIN stops coughing.

ARIZELA

Oh! What’s with the long face, darling? Let me guess... (Pauses)

Ah! You got dumped by someone younger than you?! That’s so unfortunate! Here, let me give you a magical hug-  

HUIN

(Scoffs)

As if. Sorry miss, but I don’t get dump.

ARIZELA

(Gulps and clicks her tongue)

Ah! You failed the exam last semester?

HUIN

No. I’m actually a dean’s lister since highschool.

ARIZELA

(Mumbles)

Huh?! My guesses are always right!

(HUIN stands up and puts his hands inside his pockets, ready to exit. ARIZELA raises her two hands and rolls her eyes.)

ARIZELA

(Normal speaking voice)

Okay, Mr. frowning angel. Tell me, what’s going on in your mind?

(ARIZELA stands up and walks closer to HUIN until they are one feet apart. HUIN steps back.)

ARIZELA

Hmmm... I can see a child crying, actually begging, for someone’s love in your eyes. He is known as “Heartless” but people are too blind, moreso ignorant, to see that he’s just holding and waiting for someone to give warmth to his heart. You left your home, didn’t you?

(ARIZELA goes back to her seat. Long silence.)

HUIN

(Sits beside ARIZELA.)

That child needed to leave his home to save his fragile heart from monsters that manipulate his mind and crash his youth. Well in short, something or someone might kill him if he stays there.

ARIZELA

Hmm... It somehow reminds me of Pericles, The Prince of Tyre by Shakespeare. You know, when he needs to leave the kingdom because there’s another prince who wants to kill him?

HUIN

You read works of Shakespeare?

ARIZELA

Duh! His works are a masterpiece! Pity for those who don’t read them.

(HUIN chuckles. Short silence.)

ARIZELA

I’m so proud of you. (Pats HUIN’s head) You are so brave that you chose yourself to be free from them, despite of your blood relation. I can’t imagine what you’ve been through, I’m so sorry. Here take this, (Hands a dreamcatcher keychain) It’s not appropriate for me to tell you your fortune but if you want something, it’s not bad to wish them through this.

HUIN

(Sarcastic tone)

O-Oh thanks... I wonder if I can get a dog with this.

ARIZELA

Or maybe, a walking hotpack that will give warmth to your heart? (Winks) I gotta pee! Yuri take the lead, I’ll just go to the restroom! I’ll be back! And when I come back, you, cold cinnamon roll! (Points her finger at HUIN) needs to pay for my services!

HUIN

Wait! What’s your name?!

(ARIZELA runs at the back door while holding her stomach. HUIN chuckles and takes his wallet out of his pocket.)

LOUD CRASHING and BEEPS of car. Students scream.

YURI

Holy crap! Arizela! Oh my! Arizela! (Sobs)

A girl in her witchy outfit is lying on the floor covered with blood.

HUIN

Arizela? Wait... Is she the...

[BLACKOUT]

Scene 2

( It is the Hall way of Holy Angel University. At the left side of the Hall way, stand Angela Buenaventura, Abigail Morgan, are approaching them.)

Joey: Hey, how’s your vacation? (Turning to Abigail Cruz.)

Abigail: Hmm, same as usual. BORING.

Joey: Not going anywhere?

Abigail: Excuse me, sir? Where do you think I could go? I am obviously trapped in the stupid mansion in a place called Mansfield. (Rolling up her eyes.)

Joey: Okay. (The others are chuckling at the back.)

Allan: Hey, c’mon guys, the ‘Director’ is here, we need to get to our class.

( All of them walk to the eighth row from the left and sit at the very back row of the hall.)

Mr. Pau: (Walking up the stage and stands at the podium.) Welcome back, students of Holy Angel University. Summer is over and now it is time for school. Students, I hope that you can keep it up with your

grades last year, which were really impressive. And to the 8th graders, you can now choose the subjects you like with one condition, you must at least choose 6 subjects.

Joey: Oh gosh, we have to take at least 6 subjects! That’s worse than having Mr. Chua class. (Slapping his head with his hand.)

Angela: At least we can choose subjects we like.

Joey: Mr. Pau will distribute the papers for us to choose our subjects.

Angela: YES! I finally can choose subjects I like! YIPPY!

Mr. Pau: Angela, would you please lower down your voice?

Angela: Sorry, Mr. Pau.

Mrs. Morgan: (Stands at the door and knocks. Everybody looks at her.) Excuse me, can I have Abigail Morgan for a moment?

Abigail: Mom?

Angela: She’s your mom?

Abigail: Yes, she’s, my mom. What’s she doing here?

Mr. Pau: Yes, please, Mrs. Morgan. Abigail? Abigail: Coming, Mr. Pau Mrs. Morgan: Thank you.

Abigail: (Walks to the door where Mrs. Morgan stands.) What are you doing here? (Whispering.)

Mrs. Morgan: I just want to check you up. I have known that you will be choosing your 6 subjects in class. I came here to tell you that I’ve helped you to apply for the new school already. Mr. Lee said that you have to leave next week. Are you clear about that?

Abigail: Oh, yes. Next week, huh?

Mrs. Morgan: Now, here’s your folder, keep it really good, okay? (Gives a brown folder to Abigail Morgan.) Abigail: Yes.

(Mrs. Morgan walks away.)

Joey: What’s going on? Why did your mom come?

Abigail: I’ll tell you guys after dinner. Mr. Pau: Class dismissed.

(Students walk out of the hall way and go home.)
