You know what I’m waiting for? The FE game where a unit, just one unit, has a noticeable, hindering disability. The closest things we have are Seth, who has a stab wound that never really heals and Niles, who only has one eye. But it doesn’t seem to hinder him at all, and only adds to his sympathetic backstory.
Now, I don’t know anything about losing something as important as an eye. I’ve no idea if the same phantom pains that tend to grace lost limbs actually haunt a missing eye. But I WANT that. I want that to be addressed if it is true.
It may seem stupid and selfish, longing for this. Why would a medieval army want or have need to recruit an unable soldier?
For me, it stems from a want to do more than I physically can. I absolutely adore FE as a series, because it makes me feel incredibly smart, and it whisks me away to a world where a ragtag bunch of misfits and regular people alike come together to kick tons of evil butt.
If ragtag misfits, like thieves and murderers can fight for a good cause, I’d love to see a pegasus knight with a bad limp/scissor gait or a blind mage that casts spells after hearing the enemy’s steps do the same. Where they’re accepted, and can become stronger in more ways than one.
