A Uniform Outfit
I just recently came by an article of a woman who took on the challenge of wearing one dress for a whole year. A whole year everybody! In woman world, that is crazy.
Her name is Kristy Powell and she decided to do it hoping to bring awareness of the harmful ways that fashion consuming can be. You hear of celebrities like Paris Hilton who claim to never wear anything twice. Sounds fancy but honestly, I think it’s impractical. To us regular human beings at least.
Powell’s story got me interested because I myself have been flirting with the idea of wearing just one dress or an outfit for a uniform.
Think about it. You will NEVER have to worry about finding an outfit again because you already have a predetermined set of clothes that make up your outfit. Wouldn’t that be amazing?
And so what if people notice? I personally don’t mind. In fact, I love it because it’s one way for people to recognize me right away. When they think of me, they’d easily create an image of me in their head because they’ve seen me wear the same outfit so many times. I think it’s brilliant!
I would have wanted to take on the same challenge as Powell’s but the problem is that I wouldn’t be able to keep it. I regularly go mountaineering so that means I need to wear something more appropriate for the activity. I also fear that during nights where I’ll be out with my friends, I won’t be sober enough to wash my dress so I can wear it the next day.
Sigh.
I haven’t given up just yet. I will embark on this challenge in the future. Just not now. I have yet to figure out how to make it work exactly.
