It was about one in the afternoon when Mae found Bobby outs in the garage. He was covered with the usual auto grime and cussing up a storm at a transmission that didn’t want to cooperate. She wolf whistled at him then handed him a cold beer, her lips pulled into a small but excited smile.
“Just unpacked my last box so I thought I’d come out here an’ celebrate.
[[Oh hey there @oneidjitatatime.]]
Before the Storm Comes
@oneidjitatatime
The car that Bobby had lent her a few months earlier was still in fine working order. Almost perfect, really. Which was a bit more than she could say for herself at the moment. With a split lip, smart gash on her forehead and a wealth of bruises blossoming, Mae was a mess.
But a mess that was in good spirits because she had just pulled up to one of her favorite places, Singer Auto Salvage.
Name: Robert Steven “Bobby” Singer
Verse: The Road We’re On Relationship: Husband
A wildly different pair who managed to find solace and solidarity in each other. Mae Cardwell and Bobby Singer are two Hunters who encountered each other by chance when Mae found herself fighting off multiple Chupacabras on a heavily wounded leg and Bobby came to her rescue. They have faced death together and have slowly, but surely, become a team all their own.
Snowed
Bobby Singer was not a man made easily to worry. He’d seen too much darkness--man made or otherwise--to scare at the drop of a pin. So why the hell did he feel like some sort of cornered animal at the thought of being stuck in an abandoned hunting cabin with one slip of a woman named Mae Cardwell?
Mae Cardwell that was constantly running into trouble that it made Sam and Dean look downright easy mode. Mae Cardwell that had a razor sharp wit, warm brown eyes, and a steady hand with a blade.
...Okay maybe he could see WHY she made him a little uneasy. But for the life of him he couldn’t put his finger on one particular thing about her that put him off kilter. Or WOULDN’T, now that he let himself think about it.
“There’s a good store of firewood in here,” Mae informed Bobby, wrenching the man out of his thoughts. “How about I start a fire an’ you see what else we have to deal with here?”
Bobby watched her, silently surprised for a moment.
“Or...I...could do the lookin’ and you can make the fire?” She suggested when he didn’t answer.
He cleared his throat and gave a quick shake of his head. “No, no. You go on ahead and start the fire. I’ll...” Rather than finish the sentence he simply walked off in the other direction, all but muttering to himself as he did so.
Mae stood where she was, holding a small bundle of kindling to her chest as she watched Bobby shuffle off towards areas unknown of the cabin. A beat of silence passed and then she was back in survival mode. Before long she had a decent fire flickering to life, already putting out welcoming heat.
At the other end of the cabin Bobby was surveying what they had in the way of canned goods. A thick layer of dust covered everything in the pantry but nothing he’d seen looked out of sorts. Hell, the only thing out of sorts in the whole damn building was him.

It had been close to six months since the mishap with the Chupacabras in Mississippi. Though there hadn’t been any other incidents like it--at least not to her--she found herself calling up on Bobby Singer.
Nothing constant. It wasn’t every day. Maybe not even every week. But she had started to get an almost giddy feeling whenever she heard his voice.
Today, however, she was actually in the neighborhood. Mae’s car, her trusty metal steed, had seen better days. Thanks to a deep pothole, a sharp curve, and a tree, it didn’t look good.
Which is what was on her mind when she gamely traversed her way to Bobby’s door.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ one for each XD
For each “⭐️” I get, I’ll write a headcanon about our muses.
@kimbermac - Mae’s taken to jotting down where/when she spots ghosts for Kimber. She also volunteers for testings--Which speaks to the trust that she has in the other woman.
@earthtonesandfedoras - Despite her occasional misgivings about Red, she will always make space and time for him and his business meetings. (Bonus: she always has Dembe’s favorite coffee rolls on hand as well.)
@oneidjitatatime - For a while Mae actually hated just how understanding Bobby was when they first met. It’s always easier for her to keep people at arm’s length if they’re less than personable.
@trixtrthrutheages - Gabriel is easily one of the few--or possibly only--angels that Mae will not be on guard around. He actually feels like family to her. Not that she’d actually admit it.
