Day 58 - Water in Idaho
Libby, MT to Sandpoint, ID
We were booking it and soon hit an awesome downhill only to find a huge uphill in ridiculous heat on the other side. Rough. But we made our way and pulled over at the top to let the vans catch up because we were getting ahead and it was getting tough for them to support. Soon enough the food van arrived and there was a ton of food but the combination of heat and exhaustion made my appetite all but disappear. I put down a little food before we left to ride. The rest of the ride was quite easy but there was a lot of truck traffic and, although it was nothing seriously dangerous, it is very loud and annoying to have trucks constantly going by.
The host location was nice and we found showers at another local church not too far away. Shifts were taken for showers and soon people were ready to head downtown to a huge pasta dinner Shelby had managed to secure. I heard there was an awesome beach and I wanted to check it out so I headed there and happened to pass a bar where they had beer "to-go" so hung out for a few drinks there and then took one "to-go" for the beach.
The beach was beautiful - the sun was just going down and it was surrounded by mountains and absolutely lovely. I was able to relax for a bit and just chill, sometimes a little alone time is a nice treat. The sunset was so nice and the water felt amazing but soon I had a call saying the van was headed out and unless I wanted to walk several miles back, I needed to hustle my butt back.
Back at the host, most people were ready to hit the hay but I was in the van tomorrow so I was fine hanging out and it was fun. Mike, Jackie, Dana, Eric and I were hanging out for a while but eventually it was late and we really did need to get to sleep. Ugh. Van duty. Oh well.
