Now I know it's a bit late, but here is my post about my February trip to Park City Utah. Just recently Park City combined with a neighboring mountain called Canyons Resort making it the largest ski mountain in America. As soon as I found out I knew this was the place I wanted to visit for February vacation. About four years ago when i was ten years old my family and I visited canyons resort which I enjoyed very much. There were still some hike to areas I didn't get to ski because I ran out of time. So on this trip there was new added terrain for me to explore, fun runs to ski again and unfinished business for me to complete. Unfortunately wind and rain shut down lifts for a day and a half, but on the nice days I did what I wanted to. On the first day it was icy on the slides and chutes on the left facing side of the mountain, so I skied the Condor Woods gates. These feature steep trees and and packed / soft snow, the first access gate leads to an evergreen forest with slightly wide trees, the second and third gate leads to dense aspen glades. All of this ultimately leads into a long flat gully with fallen trees across the top here and there which will keep you on your toes. Before lunch I hiked to the top of Murdock Peak, this is something I've wanted to ski since I saw it four years ago. It features a steep physically demanding hike up the face of mountain above the top of the lift. I was rewarded for my efforts with fresh powder at the top. After lunch the left side of the mountain which had been melting all day was turned to slush making it one of the best spots on the mountain that afternoon. That left side seems to be made up of mud slides covered in snow which carved paths through aspen woods. I skied Sticks & Stones which features a narrow chute and a skiable spine into a wide slide. It's short compared to the other 6 slides but it's one of the best. My dad and I skied Yard Sale which features a wide slide into a with a gully and After Shock which is one long slide which looks almost like a cut path and features moguls. I skied A Chute which is a shrub filled fun which hides a gully like slide with a cornice line, my dad and I finished the day with West Boundary which had very little snow. Day 2 was rather disappointing, other than skiing a double black glade called Molly's not much exciting happened. The ridge hike to Jupiter Peak on the Park City side closed because of wind. I skied with my mom, sister and a few friends for a bit until the rest of the lifts closed early for wind. On day 3 my dad and I attempted to escape the whether by going to Alta, we did a few runs in the Black Jack woods until all lifts lost power due to weather, we went back to canyons and stayed inside for the rest of the day. Day 4 was by far the best, the top of the mountain got 6 inches of fresh powder. I skied Molly's a few times including one extremely steep section. When the ridge hike opened I was one of the first people at the top and I got second track on the main chute of the East Face. East face is by far the Hardest run on the mountain, it features steep rock chutes and cliffs. This was the best run of the trip, I was able to glide Down the chute and straight line into the powder filled bowl below. In the afternoon we went back to the Canyons side, we ate lunch and I went and skied skied A Chute again with my dad and a friend, afterwards I skied a steep slide called Funnel Cloud, a steep run called Lone Pine which gets its name from the single pine tree in the middle and I also skied Sticks & Stones one last time. I skied until the lifts closed and I brought my stuff back to the room.
