A Night of Hope with JDRF Maryland
The Scout Guide Baltimore & Annapolis was recently honored to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Maryland at its annual gala to raise funds for research to end this disease. The 31st annual JDRF Maryland Hope Gala was a night filled with touching stories of families living and thriving with juvenile diabetes and supporting one another through a remarkable community of strength and understanding.
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone people need to get energy from food. T1D strikes both children and adults, and its onset has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. There is currently nothing you can do to prevent it, and there is no cure.
Well, not yet at least. The guests at the Hope Gala are working feverishly to find a way to prevent and cure T1D so that no one ever has to worry about checking their blood sugar levels, injecting themselves with insulin or tirelessly monitoring every piece of food they eat.
The gala’s silent and live auctions raised funds with one-of-a-kind experiences like a private VIP tour of Under Armour, Ravens PSLs (permanent seat licenses), trips around the world, and exclusive wine parties. Auction winners received Scout Guide volume 4 as a special treat.

Congratulations to the JDRF Maryland for a beautiful evening. We encourage and support your continued efforts to turn Type “one to none.”
