to my t1d moots what do you want to see in my character. Like what would make you feel more represented cause obviously I’ve done research with blood sugar the reactions pumps and all that but some scientific study doesnt compare to a real person’s experience
Basic info, she has t1d and OCD, and is in turned homebound for school, she’s very caring and tends to put others above herself, and feels like a burden because of her disability. In a post-apocalyptic world it’s certainly hard to cope and figure out how to keep getting the care she needs. So, whatcha wanna see?
There’ll likely be representations of both pumps and shots since she uses what she can get her hands on, frustration when like she’s hungry but her blood sugar’s too high and she doesn’t want to risk it, etc etc…. So literally anything you have, whatever little things happen with your experience lmk cause I want her to FEEL real like real representation, but since I’m not t1d i need others to tell me her experience yk. Im still on the outline but when i draft a scene with her I’ll probably show you guys
@gaycakeee @beetheporcupine (and if you have other moots who are also t1d you can invite them to add on ^^)
Doabeyes is so stipid what do you mean I can’t go into the store bc I have to eat gummies first ?
my blood sugar is not low while i’m working yours is…
To most this may seem like nothing, but upon my Amazon Dispatcher closing and now getting rehired to a new team, I learned this team offers healthcare. I've been free balling my t1d for over a year and a half since I lost my insurance surviving off insulin I inherited from my dead grandmother and literally relying on my body to tell me rather than having a cgm. Im greatful for the fact I feel I now understand how my body handles this disease better and can physically recognize hypo and hyper before they get real bad but God what a weight off my shoulders that ill be able to afford and get back on my insulin pump. Im crying with joy
Since I'm a type 1 diabetic, I deal with needles and blood A LOT, but I have a deep fear of blood test needles and getting my blood tested
Like not pricking my finger, I don't mind that at all, but getting a needle in my arm to take out blood? NOPE!
Whenever I get my blood tested, I get EXTREMELY dizzy, to the point where I have to breathe in alcohol pads just to stay conscious, I get nauseous, one time I even threw up bc I was so scared, and I cry like im gonna die
I hate getting my labs done, its the only thing I truly dread :(
But after I get a prize! (Getting a prize even though im a teenager T_T)
TODAY'S MY DIAVERSARY!!!!!!
