20: How did you get into k-pop?
Ok long story ahead. I’ve liked anime since I was about 12, and technically the first kpop artist I liked was Boa, but at the time I didn’t know she was Korean. One of her Japanese songs was an ending for Inuyasha and that’s how I found out about her. I thought she was Japanese for the longest time because I couldn’t tell the difference between the Japanese and Korean language back then. When I was 14 I got partnered up with this girl (Eklas is her name) in my Lit. class and somehow anime got brought up, and then she started talking about Korean dramas. She told me to watch You’re Beautiful, I did, and fell in love with Hongki and FT Island. When they did the little parody of Sorry Sorry in the show, I looked that up and fell in love with Suju. I still remember Eklas giving me a little scrap of paper at school with the words “SHINee Ring Ding Dong” written on them, and she told me to look it up on youtube. Honestly, I laughed the first time I heard it, but it grew on me so much and I ended up loving it. I didn’t really become obsessed with SHINee until Lucifer came out though.
And now I’m here, 5 years later, more obsessed than ever lol
