Oni...?! || Jotaro & Usagi (Samurai AU)
Damn it.
Damn the bright Juni-hitoe weighing her down
"やあ..."
Damn the tall geta she had the misfortune of trying to run in
"いやあ...!"
Damn the samurai chasing her, damn the feud...
"いやだ いやだ いやだ いやだ いやだ いやだ いやだ いやだ いやだ いやだ いやだ いやだ"
The young blonde cried out over and over, fleeing into the dark forest as several of the Shogun's men followed in pursuit. Really, it was more like an incredibly frantic hobble than true running with several layers of bright, multi-colored silk hampering her movement. Despite the density of the thicket, the little moonlight provided was still more than enough to make running into the maze of trees a fruitless endeavor; the weighty robes restricting her turned her into a beacon. And with how often she stumbled in the near stilt-like geta...
She had never felt more like a prisoner, a big gift practically wrapped up for the Shogun. Beautiful as they were, those clothes had to go. It was either them or her, and she would very much rather it be them. One by one she left a trail of garments, slimming down to three-fourths the original number of kimonos -- and making a line of bright silks and linens, each one leading straight to her.
Even with the freedom of losing nine of the twelve oppressive layers, Tsuki no Usagi only staved off the inevitable trying to run before coming to a large clearing. Several of the Shogun's men-- the samurai -- were already waiting, ordering her to stand down while the others tailing her caught up.
Oh, gods, no.
They were waiting for her.
They were freaking waiting.
Usagi tried backing up behind, but several men stand guard. And with the samurai already waiting in front, she could move neither forward nor backward,
There was no way out.
She was trapped.
Cornered to the side against the trunk of a tree, Usagi only cried harder and harder. Hiccuping sobs racked her frame as large, teary blue eyes shone in the moonlight -- as well as the crescent-shaped mark denoting her Lunarian heritage.
Usagi frantically dug her hand into the side of the innermost robe, grabbing at the two throwing knives previously given to her. 'Only use them if you're in the utmost danger', her retainer told her. 'Throw it to distract them, then come find me.'
Cornered by samurai was utmost danger, wasn't it? She couldn't even hear their demands to stand down, all she could hear was the blood pumping in her ears and her heart nearly bursting as terror overtook her. The Moon Child let out a horrified shriek, and hurled one of the tools with all her might, hitting an unfortunate target right in the eye.
She only doomed herself with that lucky shot, forgetting about the 'come find me' part of the instructions. The injured man recovered while she was still sobbing, about to charge at her for still resisting. It was over, she was dead. Usagi let out a scream loud enough for the heavens to hear, holding her arms in front of her face to shield her from the end.
